bike & boots

Our Bike & Boots projects can help jobseekers, or those new to a job role within the last six months, who want to walk or cycle to work as part of their commute. We have funding from Public Health Knowsley for individuals who meet our criteria.

The funding allows us to cover or go towards the costs of buying a new bike or a refurbished bike with lights and helmet. If someone does not wish to have a bike then our funding can also help with buying wet-weather gear and walking boots/shoes if you’re planning on walking to work.

Get to work in an active, efficient, and enjoyable way. We’ll even train and kit you out.

The main eligibility criteria for the scheme are:

  • Living in the local authority - KNOWSLEY ONLY
  • Newly employed, within the last 6 months, but were previously unemployed
  • be undertaking training or an apprenticeship in preparation for employment
  • Willing to walk or cycle to work as part of your journey for part of the week

Also available for free through boots and bikes are:

  • Cycle training
  • Bicycle maintenance
  • Ride leader training
  • Guided rides
  • Guided walks
  • Journey planning
  • ’Buddy’ rides
  • ’Buddy’ walks
  • Wet weather gear
